Yoga as Therapy
I highly recommend Nadia Ratycz as a consummate yoga therapist who diligently works at attending to the unique needs of the individual. Late this summer the soreness and limitations in my left hip had become more bothersome, and I plan to ski this December, so I decided to start doing yoga at Loka Yoga. There I met Nadia, filling in for Karen, and was impressed with her caring and highly skilled approach to my limitations. In addition to the customized attention in my regular yoga classes with Karen, I started working with Nadia about 5 weeks ago and am enjoying positive results.Nadia conducted a very thorough assessment of my posture, arms, legs,hips, and back and noticed where there were weaknesses. She devised a protocol for me to follow, and I practice the moves regularly throughout the week. After just 3 weeks, I noticed that the stiffness in my hip has significantly improved, my energy level has increased, and, unexpectedly, it’s easier for me to get up from floor exercises. Nadia’s expertise and encouragement keep me moving forward with my goal to easily and joyfully ski at Christmas with my 4-year-old granddaughter!

In two years, I've become a great fan of yoga and meditation with the right instructor. Nadia has the ability to make her sessions pleasant, serene and informative. She has honed her skills to make anyone feel comfortable and gives one on one instruction as well. She explains how to modify positions and to respect the body. I've been attending her weekly yoga class in Fanwood and feel energized and stretched after each session. I'm able to keep my muscles limber and have learned much about balance. As a breast cancer survivor for over 8 years, I've learned to balance my life with meditation and yoga and breathing. The ancient art of yoga is helping me to live in "the now" and improve my thinking. Nadia's classes are presented in a way that sets a tone for well being with the proper music, aromas, lighting and instruction. She inspires me by sharing her knowledge in wellness and to take care of myself. Namaste.
